Dungeon Siege II multiplayer is back.

GameSpy shut down in 2014 and took Dungeon Siege II's online play with it. This free server replaces it: lobbies, chat, the game list, accounts and the online party vault, with a relay for hosts behind routers. Small plugins next to the untouched game do the rest, starting with the Multiplayer button the Steam version greys out. Online, LAN and Broken World.

Install
Extract the DS2 Revival ZIP into your Dungeon Siege 2 folder, next to DungeonSiege2.exe. Nothing of the game is modified.
Start
Launch the game from Steam as usual. The Multiplayer button is enabled and the game talks to use1.dsii.uk by itself.
Play
Multiplayer → Internet (just a nickname) or GameSpy (an account with the online party vault) → pick a portal → host or join.

What is in the package

DS2Multiplayer

Re-enables the Multiplayer menu, points the game at this server, gives Steam copies a CD-key identity, fixes the bugs that stopped a fresh session from hosting, unlocks the hidden 8-player modes and relays games through the server when needed.

DS2Widescreen

Borderless window at your desktop resolution, ultrawide included. The world renders natively; the 800×600 menus are scaled with black bars.

DS2Fixes

Stops the game from making typing lag in every other program while it runs.

DS2BrokenWorld

Starts the expansion from a subfolder, imports heroes made in the Steam game and fixes its low frame rate on PCs that run the Windows hypervisor.

Does Dungeon Siege 2 multiplayer still work after GameSpy shut down? Yes, through this server.
How do I play online on the Steam version? Install the package; the Multiplayer button works again.
Do I need to forward ports? No: when a joiner cannot reach the host, the relay connects them.
Does Broken World multiplayer work? Yes, with your own copy of the expansion.
Why does Broken World run at a low frame rate? Its copy-protection code is slow whenever Windows runs its hypervisor; DS2BrokenWorld fixes that.
