Your request code is sent to the server. The server works out the content code from it and sends the answer back. It is not stored: the server keeps no record of it beyond the web server's ordinary access log, which does not contain request bodies. A request code belongs to one install (it is made from that player's own identity), and the content code is only good for the install it was made for.
You need a DS2 Revival version with the CrossKey fix. It is not released yet and is coming in 1.4.3. On older builds the master code stays INACTIVE on a Steam copy, and then no content code can be entered.
How to use it
Get your request code
In the Dryad Outpost (Broken World, act 1) talk to Kerth of the F & K Society, choose Tell me more about these codes, then [View and re-enter crossover code from my PSP system.]. The window shows a 16-letter code below "give the following code to a member of the F & K Society". Type it above. If the window says Invalid CDKey instead, the game has no identity to make a code from: see below.
Activate with the master code
Type the master code this page shows into the window's box and press Activate. The status must turn to ACTIVE. If it stays INACTIVE, the game could not store it (see below).
Enter the content code
Close the window, talk to Kerth again, choose [Enter the content code from Throne of Agony to unlock items.] and type the content code. The game says Congratulations! New items have been unlocked.
Buy the item
Open Kerth's shop (What items are currently available?). The unlocked items cost gold, like any unique item with his mark-up. A code works once per item.
If it does not work
- Invalid CDKey in the window: the game found no identity. DS2 Revival's DS2Multiplayer plugin gives every Windows user one unless
VirtualCdKey=0is set inDS2Multiplayer.ini; without the plugin there is none, and no code can be made. - Status stays INACTIVE after Activate: on a Steam copy this needs a DS2 Revival version with the CrossKey fix (coming in 1.4.3, not released yet), which stores the master code for your Windows user in your own registry, no administrator rights needed. Older builds cannot.
- "You have entered an invalid content code": the request code was typed wrongly, or the content code is for another install or another Windows user.
